The Maker Knife: Flawed, But Brilliant

If you follow just about any prominent YouTuber, you’ve seen the Maker Knife. Essentially, it’s a sliding and locking mechanism that allows you to carry a box blade on your person with minimum impact on your pocket’s weight or capacity. A couple of years ago, an Italian named Giacomo Di Muro jump started the idea on KickStarter and the thing just went gangbusters. I was an early supporter of the project and got my first Maker Knife something like two years ago?

Arduino Based Spot Welders

The summer of weird and nerdy electronics projects continues… Lately, I’ve been using a lot of 18650 based Li-Ion battery packs in 2, 3, and 4s. As such, I’m thinking I need a battery spot welder. It seems as though a lot of guys prefer the Arduino based DIY kits and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these. The most popular seems to be from Germany, but there are others… Anyone have any experience with this? If so, I could use some guidance! See Comments on the forum.

So, I can’t seem to get out of my “nerd build” phase. I’ve moved on from keyboards and strange little TVs to unmanned aerial vehicles. Essentially, these are model airplanes with onboard computers that are programmed to fly very long distances and perform a number of different mission objectives. More on that later… But in doing all of this, I’ve become a bit of a crimp tool connoisseur. Crimping heavier gauge wire with automotive terminals is easy – even for a cheap tool. But crimping small 24awg wire with 2.54mm connectors is not. I know… cuz I’ve tried just about …
